Daily show on "A letter to President Bush

Daily show
Video sent by omemarian
You can read the full text of Ahmadinejad's letter to President Bush published on the Le Monde website.

"You are familiar with history. Aside from the Middle Ages, in what other point in history has scientific and technical progress been a crime? Can the possibility of scientific achievements being utilised for military purposes be reason enough to oppose science and technology altogether? If such a supposition is true, then all scientific disciplines, including physics, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, engineering, etc. must be opposed."

hilarious! loved it, especially the rug part. keep them coming!!!

"mixed messages" pretty much sums it up...

both in Ahmadinejad's letter, and in the Daily Show episode: for example the Hitler Smiley. Is it rude to relate the democatically elected president of Iran to the greatest tyrant and deformation mankind has ever known?

Just think about it, from both sides, its a lack of respect. The American media machine, the Iranian 1984 big brother brainwashing, all will have ramifications. The media consistently writes "wipe Israel off the map" without giving heed to ANY other passages of his text or writing. (he didn't write that in the letter, it was a previous comment to a crowd)

Fact is, moral obligation is the dominant embodiment of social control. Think about it. Each side is obligated, and therefore, all reason is filtered though these emotional and prior moral obligations. They think, if one thing we did wrong this century, we won't do it again, even if it means doing it to someone else.

It's a sad day because I like John. He is damn funny, but these little things are ALWAYS there, and if only you saw the conservative media outlets! Hooaaa~!

Break the chains off are rise from the dust.

well u can't really blame john, he is jewish himself.

It is so funny...

Has any one noticed how the rhetoric in that silly letter written by the Iranian president is similar to the rhetoric of the Anti-war leftists and lunatics?

That has always been my question as to why Leftists and Iranian clerics (Generally speaking, despots) talk as if they are business partners? They sound similar to me and I don't see any difference between the two.

Have you even read the letter?

The Colbert Report actually featured a clip last night (Wed.) of a Fox News commentator making that same comparison.... and then Colbert just SHAT on that kind of thinking by exposing (in his brilliant satirical method) the irrational thinking that anyone who shares a few ideas is the same in all other aspects.

Ahmadinejad wrote, "September Eleven was a horrendous incident. The killing of innocents is deplorable and appalling in any part of the world." So...if anyone says that in the US, they must be an anti-war leftist? Your thinking also follows that of course, they must agree with EVERYTHING ELSE Ahmadinejad says.

A few quotes from his letter:

"Is not scientific R&D [Research & Development] one of the basic rights of nations?"

"All governments have a duty to protect the lives, property and good standing of their citizens...All governments have a duty to provide security and peace of mind for their citizens."

"We also believe that Jesus Christ (PBUH)* was one of the great prophets of the Almighty. He has been repeatedly praised in the Koran."

* (Peace Be Upon Him)

Yeah, all that is quite SILLY! Of course we don't want lunatics who believe in those ideas to run our country.

Winstn is a monarchist who has a big mouth. He lives in Canada and speaks of a military invasion of Iran. Well, why don't you pack your bags and go to iran , spend a few days in prison, adcovate freedom or join the u.s armed forces. it's really easy to live thpusands of miles away and speak about bombing the people of a country. you are a coward winston just like the Shah.
